While we didn’t have any snow down our way today, the temperature didn’t bother rising above zero. In the wind (a wind from Scandinavia, apparently) it was well below zero. It wasn’t the nicest walk into Farnham, particularly when the zipper on my fleece decided it couldn’t be bothered working any more. Stupid technology.
While Whitcomb L. Judson was obviously onto something amazing when he decided to replace the button with a long metal strip held together by another long metal strip via a small metal clasp, it doesn’t seem so amazing when it fails to do the one thing for which it was designed.
We decided to brave the conditions and took the poodles to Frensham for a walk around the pond. It wasn’t too bad down among the trees but high up on the ridge, near the bronze age burials, it was like being in an industrial freezer with one of those big movie fans turned on high. I had two t-shirts and a fleece (with working zipper) but it wasn’t even close to enough.
Not that it bothered the dogs. They only shiver when I give them a bath or when they first return from a trip to the poodle parlour. When it comes to going for a walk, the temperature just isn’t a consideration.
So, that was more or less it for the day. Though, we did watch the first part of the two part Shetland on the BBC. It’s a murder mystery on one of the islands way up north and was so bleak, it made us feel quite warm and comfortable. Think Wallander with Scottish accents.
We are in the midst of the coldest March for over 50 years with little chance of warmth for at least another week. Marvellous. It’s a good job I love the cold.
So hope that doesn’t mean we will have this hot weather a lot longer we should be getting the cold and you should be getting the heat. I like the sound of the murder but wish it wasn’t Scottish find it very hard to understand like Rebus.
