No history or myths today. Being the first day of December meant it was very, very cold outside…we accordingly stayed out of it for most of the day.
We had a lovely relaxing time sitting around the house while the freezing cold left a white cloth all over the grass. Mirinda’s work has recently switched their email to the Cloud so I spent a fruitless few hours trying to get it onto her iPhone and then her Blackberry. In a world of great technology, it seems a bit dark ages-ish when your technology won’t talk.
Anyway, I don’t really mind. Naturally, I get a bit stressed and swear-y but that dispels almost as soon as it’s expressed. I like solving the problems…even when I don’t.
There was also a spreadsheet to create and play with based on some higher education statistics – that’s always fun. In line with this, Mirinda has discovered a piece of project management software which assigns tasks to people that she’s going to (probably) use at work. Her first tasks were for me! This included the spreadsheet.
Of course, all tasks were halted when it was time to go to Cote for dinner.
I decided to ‘push the boat out’ because Mirinda is always saying I’m not adventurous enough in my food choices. I was going to have the raw steak but she said that she wouldn’t like to watch that so I decided to go for seafood for starter and main course.
Okay, that might not sound like much but I rarely order seafood so, for me, it was pretty adventurous. Prawns gratinee followed by roasted sea bass finished off with a tarte tatin was all delicious especially washed down with a beautifully crisp Sancerre.
We then went home and watched The Hunger Games. I know I’ve been pretty scathing about teenage angst movies (just the mention of Kristin Stewart is enough to make me yawn) but this one was really good.
To be fair, I am quite keen on films about a dystopian future, especially if they involve an insane level of reality television. I also think Katniss Everdeen is a brilliant name for a heroine. Speaking of whom, Jennifer Lawrence was excellent. I also really enjoyed Woody Harrelson’s performance.
So, all in all, a lovely day.
