This morning I barely had time to wake up before I was out in the office, applying the first of three coats of varnish to the floor. It took me an hour and involved quite a bit of shooing the poodles out before they could tread on the wet boards.
During the two hour wait before the second coat, I had breakfast then spoke to mum and dad. I also rang Mirinda who is still feeling poorly. We both concluded that she shouldn’t have gone to work yesterday. She’d shifted all her meetings around so she could stay in bed today. Good move!
It was then back on my hands and knees, applying coat two (after a light sanding to the first one).
An hour later I went into Farnham for a break…and for some essential supplies for tonight as it’s a Nicktor Night. It was then time for lunch before applying the third and final coat of dark oak varnish. Here’s the finished floor, taken through the end window. I had to use the flash so the floor looks rather uneven. It looks a lot better in real life.
Tomorrow I can finally start moving things in and next weekend, I can start making my new desk.
Nicktor has the honour of being the first person to see the completed office. When I asked him what he thought of it (after prompting from Mirinda) he said he loved it. Though he’s clearly not that keen on my choice of colours.
We then spent a very enjoyable evening watching the Australian horror film Wolf Creek followed by some much needed light relief in the guise of Sorry and Goodnight Sweetheart.
I think we’re both getting older and wiser. We were in bed by 12:15 and still sober.
Well the older bit is true
I agree the older bit is true hope you are feeling better
Mirinda. The floor looks great and tell Nicktor to stop
