And so, after yesterday’s day of horror, today dawned bright and beautiful as the Gary tummy returned to its usual bug free state. In a show of great resilience, I suggested that a trip out onto the Baltic, via The Bob, was called for. The suggestion was eagerly approved and enacted.
Just to prove how exquisite the day was, here is Mirinda on the end of the dock at Kråmö.

It was also extremely quiet on the island.
There was another boat there for the shortest of whiles, a pair of young fisher lads, but we very soon had the island to ourselves after they left for fishing new.
I saw a few distance boats crossing the horizon but, really, nothing to disturb the silence broken only by the occasional cormorant. I think I saw a sea otter but even this little creature preserved the all-pervading quiet. The lack of man-made noise was a delight, savoured by us both. I can’t speak for Emma.
Of course, Mirinda and Emma went for a lovely long walk while I sat on the dock and had my reading hour. And, really, could you wish for a lovelier spot?

We all returned home feeling much refreshed, full of smiles and bug free.
To finish, here’s another delightful quote from The Man Without Qualities by Robert Musil. This involves the man’s friend, Walter.
He could not see them but felt that they were just beyond his field of vision. Jealousy tormented him. The cheap intoxicant of sluggishly sensual music was luring him back to the piano. It lay behind him, open like a bed rumpled by a sleeper resisting consciousness in order to avoid facing reality. He was racked by the jealousy of a paralysed man who can sense how the healthy walk, yet he could not bring himself to join them, for his anguish offered no possibility of defending himself against them.
