How much is your poverty worth?

I think it’s extraordinary how the Republican Party in America have to resort to buying the votes of the US electorate by promising each and every person $5,000 if they win the mid-terms and maintain control of the country. Is that how much democracy costs these days? Maybe the Democrats should offer $5050 and force the dollars up in a vote price bidding war.

Of course, that would never happen because the Democrats are real politicians and not just populist ATMs.

Strangely, this evening, as I cooked a stroganoff, I was listening to an interview with Sally Mann, the photographer, about her life’s work, and she used the term ‘Trumpian O’ when talking about a photograph she took which features her daughter jumping in the air. Her daughter’s mouth is open and round.

Katy Hessel, who was interviewing Ms Mann, laughed at the term. I admit that I did too.

Apart from having a jolly good chuckle at Trump’s childlike facial features, I was also made very happy with Freya today. She was keen, almost active and responsive enough to want to go for a walk. When Mirinda suggested one to Emma, and they made the usual preparations, Freya was at the door wondering if she could go as well.

Obviously, Freya had to stay at home and go for a much more sedate and shorter walk than them. So, as the car left the driveway and headed for Tureholm, I took Freya up to Trosa Everest.

We didn’t make it further than the first level, but she was showing interest and happy to follow me. I think she enjoyed herself.

Big world for a little dog

She even ate three meals today. Maybe she is on the mend. I won’t count my chickens just yet.

Meanwhile, in the snooker (sorry Nicoline), Judd Trump went through to the next round after defeating Ashley Carty 4-1. I also managed to watch most of the game between the incredibly skilled Wu Yize and Xu Si which Yize won 4-2.

Two things that occurred to me as I watched were, how a parent could name their child Ashley when their surname is Carty and how you pronounce Xu Si.
