Weather affected post

Today it mostly rained. I noticed the gathering clouds as I walked to the ICA first thing. While it was reasonably fine as I walked in, it had started to darken as I returned. Then, not long after I had unpacked my shopping trolley, the rain started. And it didn’t really stop.

Actually, at one stage, after lunch, Mirinda declared she would take advantage of a lull in the weather to take Emma for a walk. She wasn’t long gone before the heavens decided to change her mind by pouring down on them both.

While Mirinda preferred returning home, I don’t think Emma agreed.

The only other, out of the ordinary thing that really happened was my attempt at making Mirinda shakshuka for lunch.

A while ago, she told me that she preferred a bit of variety in her lunches. I, of course, always have a salad. And so, I have been making her different soups, waffles, omelettes, etc and, of course, the occasional salad.

Then I remembered how much she enjoyed the shakshuka she would order at The Holly Bush in Frensham when we had lunch there. I decided to give it a shot.

And, I am glad to say, it was a big success.

I embraced further successful at dinner when I made Geraldine’s glazed carrots. They were lush.

Richard O’Sullivan died today aged 82. I remember him from Man About the House as well as other British comedies. I can’t believe he was that old. I guess that when you only see people as they were rather than as they are, they will always seem to be the age they were.

If that’s the case, I rather like to think that people who saw me play Sid Sorokin in The Pyjama Game in the 1980s will still think of me at that age. Or that lovable rogue, Norman, in The Norman Conquests a part I relished playing.

Alongside dreams of my youth, I also recorded my latest Letter from Sweden today. Here it is, for anyone interested.
