Today was mostly about preparing for Mirinda’s Environmental Group Retreat. While she went to Nyköping for a few essential items, I stayed at home, in part, looking after Freya. Though she was better today, she was still not her old self. Actually, we are pretty sure we’ll never see her old self again.
I’ll be looking after her during the Retreat. I will also be taking the opportunity to write.
There was one bit of unexpected excitement when we failed to hear a knock at the door and a query as to our location. We were eating dinner on the deck when Nicoline appeared coming up the ramp. She had knocked, asked if we were around and, eventually, come in but had no answer.
It was a lovely, unexpected visit. She was on her way back from dinner at Lagnö Bo and, given she was, more or less, driving past, thought she’d drop in and chat. She also asked if I would like to accompany her to Lagnö on Saturday. Given the Retreat participants will be taking over my kitchen on Saturday, I was more than delighted to say yes to her invitation.
I didn’t take any photos today but here is one from yesterday’s art class. It is of a somewhat controversial work by Martin Creed. I saw an exhibition of his work at the Hayward Gallery back in 2014 when, memorably, I squeezed into his room of balloons.
Anyway, his piece Lights Going On And Off, was (and remains) his most controversial works. It features a room with lights coming on then going off every five seconds. The room is empty. I say ‘is’ because it is still on display at Tate Britain for anyone interested in seeing it.

Is it art? I don’t know, but it does remind me of the first discussion we had back when I was doing my Masters. The lecturer asked us a simple question: “What is a document?” And do you know what? I still don’t know the definitive answer.
