Following the recent wet, dry, windy, hot weather we’ve been having, the grass encircling the house has grown somewhat lush. So, today, armed with nothing but our battery operated mower, I headed out the front to begin the mammoth task of cutting the grass down to size.
Of course, I could only manage so much at a time given the battery runs out fairly quickly when tackling the big, damp clumps of foliage. Then, of course, it takes around an hour and a half to recharge which creates much appreciated breaks.
These breaks are filled in with other things like making lunch and dinner, feeding and walking the dogs, the normal day to day stuff.
Actually, during our walk up to the korv cabin on the ski slope, Freya suddenly forgot she was sick and chased a blackbird that had dared to walk across the path in front of her. Okay, it was only a few feet but still, it was a joy to see. I haven’t seen her run in yonks.
Another joy experienced today was when Anna (from the retreat) told me that whenever she read bits of my book, she heard it in her head in my voice. I think that’s a good thing. She had asked to read it ages ago but has been very busy with work, something I vaguely remember, and has only just got back to reading it.
I’m thinking that hearing it in my voice makes it more authentic. I could be wrong. It could just be the force of my intrusive personality.
Anyway, I did as much of the mowing as I could before making dinner – a new (for me) Polish recipe that featured halibut poached in cava. Sadly I couldn’t find any halibut and had to substitute cod but, even so, it was delicious.
And the weather was hot.

But wait, there’s more!
First thing, I recorded my Letter from Sweden. It’s my 50th since I started writing and recording them back in November 2020. That’s more letters I’ve written to anyone with the added joy of them actually being in my voice.
Anyway, here’s the latest one:
