Today saw Freya return to the vet. Things have been looking good; she seems to have been steadily putting on weight as her eating habits return to her normal. Mind you, she woke Mirinda up for a 3am feed but, apart from that, things have been improving. In fact, she even ate fish skin tonight.
Both of the dogs love fish skin. Generally it is the skin from the bottom of salmon fillets. In the past, I would eat it but, since discovering how much the dogs love it, we leave it on our plates and I feed it to them after we’ve finished.
Obviously, given her lack of appetite, Freya hasn’t been eating fish skin (or much else to be honest), something that Emma has been very pleased about. In fact, tonight, she looked very disappointed to only have one serving. Still, while she’s sad, we are celebrating. And so is the vet.
We went to see the vet today, to check on Freya’s progress. She has gained some weight and the medicine seems to be working so it’s all heading in the right direction. She said we should start to reduce the medicine and see how she goes over the next week.
Apart from Freya, the rest of the day was devoted to writing and cooking. And, I am happy to report, I am almost finished the second draft of my novel. My promise to Nicoline (that she can read it) is almost fulfilled.
As for food, I made salmon with a dill and walnut crust for dinner. I wondered how I could make it prettier given it is usually just all smooshed together. I decided to separate the veg rather than combine them. It not only improved the look but also managed to taste nicer.

Given that my big tins of confit de canard turned up today, I am now planning for a big French dinner I have organised for Saturday night.
