There was some movement on construction projects in Trosa while I was away. The asphalting has started, the little café at the mini putt putt is almost finished and the big hole in the MTB track has been plugged. I noted each this morning on my trips to and from the ICA.

Before I left, when there was only a sign indicating that work would begin, this was a pedestrian crossing. It has now been scraped clean and patchy, ready for resurfacing work. It follows the same thing happening on the main road last year.
While it looks a bit crappy, at least it won’t exactly inconvenience any traffic. I have no idea how it will affect me and other pedestrians once the black stuff goes down.
Actually, I was looking at the re tarmacked road from last year which, for quite a while was very black. It didn’t take long for it to become the same standard grey as all the old roads.
A little colour has been added to the little cafe at the mini putt putt.

While the outside appears to be complete, there is still work going on inside. I like the red trim but could have done without the trailer in the foreground. I mean, seriously, how do they expect me to take a decent photograph?
Interestingly, after we had our first lunch of the season at Emil’s Backe and headed across to the deli for Matsfest, the course was teeming with happy, smiling golfers. I didn’t notice anyone giving long, mournful glances across at the closed shop.
Another project that I am not that happy with is to do with the MTB track.

Last year, the dip in the photo above filled with rain then collapsed into itself, creating a big, apparently unridable hole. To fix it, the MTB people carved out a trench in order to create a sort of soakaway, designed to divert any water from gathering on the track and, thereby avoiding the same thing happening again.
Of course, in creating the trench more of the forest floor was scraped up and discarded in order for humans to have a smoother ride. I realise that people are going to think it looks fantastic and is now safer for pedalling along but, seriously, when will the destruction of the natural life of the woods stop?
Speaking of the MTB people…today must have been their big opening weekend of the season. A bit like the mini putt putt I guess, and other things around the town. It was certainly a beautiful day for it. And, of course, it’s great to see that people want to be out and enjoying life.
However, this was a bit disappointing.

I guess they just have to promote their healthy lifestyle while polluting it with vehicles.
Or, as Joni Mitchell said:
Don't it always seem to go
That you don't know what you've got
Till it's gone
They paved paradise
And put up a parking lot
Anyway, in order to not finish this post on such a negative, if somewhat socially acceptable destruction of natural habitation, point, I would like to report that my first post retreat meal was almost a total success. (I realise it needed more decoration.)
I started with duck breast with a tomato and red onion reduction, glazed carrots and asparagus followed by poached rhubarb in a rose water syrup.

Mirinda said it was a fantastic Saturday night dinner and it should happen every week. I, in turn, was especially pleased with the rose water syrup.

Ohh, 🫤, had I known there was rose water around, I would have deserted my kids and come running….
