Sweden on time

It was so nice stepping off the train in Malmö. I was so much looking forward to it that I took an earlier train from Copenhagen just to get to Sweden quicker. Of course that followed very little sleep. Probably about four hours. It felt quite laborious getting to the station.

Train #14: Copenhagen to Malmö

It was the usual, very smooth and decidedly unGermanlike trip across the Øresund Bridge, the water looking way more placid than it had any right to be. It had the consistency of a well-earned rest.

I managed to stay awake for the short journey and arrived at Malmö feeling pretty much the same as I had on Copenhagen Central Station.

I feel I should mention the fact that Copenhagen Central is undergoing a complete overhaul. The central concourse, once a Mecca of shops and travellers is now behind hoardings. By the look of things, it’s going to take quite a while before it’s complete.

But at least it was open, unlike in the early hours of this morning.

I hung around Malmö Central Station, having a coffee and sneaky bun, before boarding my final train north.

Train #15: Malmö Central to Södertälje Syd

I watched the final episode of The Museum of Innocence on the train. I have to say that as an adaptation, it’s very good. Kemal, in particular, is very much like the character in the book. I also found it a bit tedious in parts, which I also felt about the book. Particularly near the end.

It’s funny that I visited the museum first then read the book and finally watched the adaptation. It makes me think that anyone who hasn’t seen all of them is missing out on some aspects of the story.

I also read and dozed for a bit. Mind you, the dozing was difficult with all the people having conference calls. At least the babe in arms was quiet.

We were a bit late arriving at Södertälje Syd but never mind, being so close to home, who is going to quibble about four minutes.

I had a short wait for a bus and met Mirinda at the bus stop at 17:30. Perfect.

As soon as we arrived home, and after a wonderfully joyful welcome from both dogs, I started dinner. Mirinda had accidentally defrosted some lamb yesterday which I made into a rather impromptu stew, using leftovers. And, personally, I think it was pretty good.

Most of the rest of the night was me describing my retreat experience and Mirinda telling me about developments at home, mostly to do with Freya’s health, which appears to be improving. Poor Mirinda seemed quite tired and washed out. Hopefully she’ll get a bit of a rest now that I’m back to share the load.

Bed was relatively early. Back to normal tomorrow.
