Yesterday, when I returned from walking the girls to the ski lift, I realised that one of the little silver doohickies I use on my shoes, the things that the rubber band on the braces wraps around, was missing. I have spares, but it irked me because I was wearing and, therefore, using them at the time. It shocked me that I could lose one when it was attached.
So, today, when I took the girls for a walk, I decided to literally retrace my steps and see if I could find the missing hook.
I didn’t go until after lunch as Mirinda was going up to Stockholm to attend the Climate March, and we spent most of the morning together before she left.
She was a bit wary about going to the demonstration, having never been to one before. She had planned to meet up with a few of her fellow uni students but was worried she’d not find them. Her worries were unnecessary. They met up and all marched together.
She arrived back at home around 21:00 tired, foot sore but happy. She had enjoyed it, saying it was all very peaceful.
But, back in the woods, during our walk to the ski lift, you’ll never guess. I found the little silver hook, half buried on the woodland track.
It looked like it had been trodden on, which is not surprising. Especially if you consider that a whole troop of school kids had wandered by with their teachers earlier in the day.
In the past, I have been quite good at finding things thought lost forever, so I was not really that surprised even though it is quite small.

It made me very happy as well.
