We went to the Bio this afternoon and saw Hamnet. And what a fantastic film it was, with amazing performances. I can see why Jessie Buckley won so many awards for her performance as Agnes Hathaway. I read that she won an Olivier Award in 2021 for her West Performance as Sally Bowles in Cabaret. Great acting, great singing, she is obviously the whole package.
And, surprisingly, we must have seen her back in 2015 when she played Perdita in Kenneth Branagh’s production of The Winter’s Tale, though I didn’t mention her in my ‘review’. (She is also in the fourth season of Fargo and, given we’ve started watching it on Netflix, we’ll get to see her again.)
Possibly, my favourite bit of the movie was the end with the performance of Hamlet at what looked like The Globe. It bought back lots of memories of Weasel picnics in the Gentleman’s Boxes. It also had me in tears.
Thank you for the reminder, Nicoline.
While the film was most enjoyable, the same cannot be said for Ronnie O’Sullivan’s performance as he attempted to win the World Open snooker competition in Yushan, China today.
He was looking good at the halfway point, winning three frames in a row with century breaks but, then, was decisively beaten by Thepchaiya Un-Nooh who proceeded to do the same and included a 147 to boot. He beat Ronnie 10-7 in what can only be described as a fast and furious match.

I was lucky enough to see the final session while Mirinda took Emma for a long walk down to the Baltic to watch birds. Upon her return, she reported how much the sea had changed in a week. Much less ice, far more birds.
Speaking of walking dogs, as I struggled home from the ICA in the morning, taking a brief break on the Second Bench, a large group of dog walkers went by. There were a lot of varied breeds and that’s not counting the dogs.
I had struggled because my right ankle has decided to play up again. Gout? I think so. I am seeing the doctor on Tuesday and, hopefully, he’ll have the bone saw ready.
The only thing of note during my shopping trip was getting to see the cemetery fence progress. The fixing brackets from last week have been buried in the ground, ready for the posts to be fixed to them.

And, as can be seen, it was yet another glorious day. We even had coffee on the deck for the first time this year.
