I was reading a reddit post today about someone visiting Paris with a ten-year-old, and the person posting used the term ‘site seeing’. I would have used ‘sightseeing’ but, after a moment of reflection, I realised that both are valid terms. After all, you see sites as well as sights. It’s revelations like this which is why I love the English language.

Apart from Mirinda going to Swedish class, that was it for language today. I saw Lasse when he picked up and dropped off the dogs but, otherwise, I didn’t see anyone else. Though there was a flurry of text messages during Melo, something that has become a must attend ritual for me.

Of course, the bulk of messages, as usual, were between KSP and me, though there were also some to and from Mirinda. KSP also had Charlie and Wilma to help in deciding who should and shouldn’t get through to the final. Though, KSP had a clear favourite entry this week in Medina.

There were the usual dull and boring entries (KSP thought the offering this week was very poor) but there were also a couple of standouts. Medina (Viva L’Amor) and Crossed (King of Rock ‘n Roll) being our favourites on the night. Although, I rather enjoyed Saga Ludvigsson and her song (Ain’t Today).

KSP reminded me that I liked Saga’s song from last year as well. I’m nothing if not consistent. I thought her song last year (Hate you so much) was cute and catchy. Sadly, it was voted last in the 2025 final. Which only goes to show the vagaries of the voting public. And possibly my taste in music.

Speaking of the vote…While Medina won and will go through to the final, Crossed, with an excellent hard rock song that exploded onto the stage and sent me into paroxysms of nostalgic joy, didn’t score very well at all. Though, they did beat a rather dull and angst ridden entry, sung by a young woman who was all but obscured by a microphone.

And what was the second entry to go through, I hear you ask with great spasms of fevered expectation? It was only Saga Ludvigsson! So that’s one for KSP and one for me this week.

Returning to the language point I made above, it really doesn’t matter that I have no idea what anyone is talking about between the songs during Melo. I find the programme entertaining, especially with KSP’s occasional explanations. This discovery has enlivened my life.
