Behind the mask

I walked to the ICA this morning. As much as I needed to go shopping, it was also to see if I could. Obviously, I could, because I am now writing about it but it proved to me that my foot is not 100% yet. Okay, unlike last week, when it took me three hours, today I managed to cut half an hour off that but, even so, every time I walked on uneven ground, it was quite painful.

As painful as it was, it felt good being outside the house again. And among people. I exchanged greetings with quite a few, especially dog walkers.

In the ICA I saw something I rarely see: a couple shopping together. By ‘together’ I mean they were actually discussing everything before putting it in their trolley. Or rejecting it. Usually, when people shop together, one is pushing the trolley looking bored while the other picks items. I thought it was very refreshing to see.

Back at home, I managed some admin and laundry in between bouts of resting my foot then, of course, there was a bit of Olympics to watch. And, following yesterday’s post on the mixed curling, I have to report that Team GB remains undefeated, crushing the US team in a match that silenced the “USA! USA!” crowd in the stands.

I also watched a bit of women’s ice hockey which, I think, beats the men’s game for violence.

But, the ultimate Saturday entertainment was yet to come. And, yes, you guessed it: MELO!

This week it was all a lot better. The acts to go through were the ones that KSP and I thought should. Our texts were flying around the ether from the beginning to the end of the broadcast. It was great fun. Even Mirinda joined in watching.

Mind you, we all thought the mask that Felicia wore was a bit naff. Apparently she appeared on Melo a few years ago as Miss Nasty but didn’t get anywhere. As Miss Nasty she wore a pink balaclava so at least the mask is an improvement over that. According to Felicia, the mask is “…a trauma thing. I’ve received a lot of hate in the past and I feel like I want to own something myself. I want to decide for myself if I want to show my face and we’ll see when that day comes.

She has worn a mask since 2022 but took it off at the end of her song, replacing it with a pair of sparkly glasses.

Our favourite act, Brandsta City Firefighters came in second to also progress to the final. They have also appeared on Melo before but quite a few years ago.

It made the day finish a lot better than it started. Though being a part of the outside world was lovely.

Stalker report

After yesterday’s huge upsurge in weird interest, things returned to normal today with a return to the top spot by North Bergen. It registered 33 views. It could be, as I have reported before, because it’s the weekend. Who knows? Certainly not me.
