Deer crossing

I spent too long today, trying to find out who coined the deer quote on the meme from yesterday’s post. I couldn’t get past the fact that it seems to have been Mohamad Ali but that seems to be so. The full quote is: Looking at life from a different perspective makes you realise that it’s not a deer that is crossing the road, rather it’s the road that’s crossing the forest. Even so, I haven’t been able to find out the all important why and when.

Speaking of deer, our front garden appears to be the local ruminant ungulate highway. I took this out of Mirinda’s study window today during a brief moment of sunshine.

Of course, it’s not that the deer are crossing our front garden, it’s the snow that’s crossing the grass.

In health news, my right foot feels a bit better. I confidently told Mirinda that I might just be able to take the girls for a walk on Sunday. I managed a big ICA online order today so I won’t need to go shopping before next week.

If nothing else, I was feeling a lot happier in myself today. I might even get to have a shower soon.

In Wider News

So, UK PM Keir Starmer has been in China discussing all manner of things. And Trump isn’t happy. That’s the same Trump that called the UK PM stupid. It’s also the same Trump that is cosying up to Putin. He clearly loves a dictator but hates democracy. Surely he should be happy that the UK wants to do business with the reliable, honest and Communist Chinese.

Apart from pissing Trump off, I read that UK to China travel will be visa free from now on. Having been through the China visa procedure myself, this is brilliant. And so much better than going to the US.

Staying with UK politics, I listened to Kemi Badenoch this morning on Desert Island Discs. While I’m no fan of the Tories, she went right up in my estimation when she selected Vanity Fair as the book she’d take to her desert island. She said it was because it’s the only work of fiction she’s read twice and she loves Becky Sharp.

While it’s certainly not the only work of fiction that I’ve read more than once, I certainly get why it deserves multiple reads and, of course, I love Becky Sharp as well.

Stalking report

As we approach the weekend, it will be interesting to see if North Bergen has a bit of a break. Today, Friday, there were only 45 views.
