Wildlife and wonder

I had two exciting and surprising things happen today. Of course, both things may not be that exciting to the unpained reader but, given my current state of immobility, they were for me. Also, I should say that the girls had a lot more excitement in that they went with Lasse again for a visit with Kristina.

The first exciting thing was my discovery that one chair in our house is better than the others when it comes to sitting down for a while. That may sound a bit odd but, even more weird, is that it is a rocking chair. I’m not a big rocking chair user, but I accidentally fell into our white one (we have three) and, deciding to remain seated, realised after a while that the pain in my right leg was reduced.

It is fair to say that this has now become my chair of choice. I’m just wondering if I can get it in front of the telly.

Fortunately, the white rocking chair currently faces the road so, at least, I have something to look at while I gently rock. And there’s generally things happening outside. Dog walkers, people with strollers, people on cargo bikes, just people.

Then, today, during twilight, while I was having Reading Hour, I saw movement coming up the road. It was just a fluke that I looked when I did. I could easily have missed it.

It was a big old hare, bouncing happily along. It hopped along the road until it reached the house opposite where it disappeared into their garden.

Okay, so I’ve seen lots of hares, particularly in the woods. I’ve even seen them on our road on my way to the shops. But this was special because I’m not seeing a lot (read any) wildlife at the moment.

Which reminds me. This image popped up on Reddit today. It was in an environmental sub-reddit and I thought it was superb. I sent it to Mirinda and she was so excited, she’s going to take it to class for show and tell next week.

Then, tonight, before hitting my pillows, I watched a South Korean movie called The Great Flood. It’s a sci-fi end of the world type movie but with an excellent plot twist. I won’t spoil it, but I thought it was brilliant. I was going to include a link to the movie but the ones I found have spoilers.
