Not a good day

I saw Emilie in the ICA this morning. She was at the checkout and said that her little sister was turning 17 today. “Time is going so fast,” She said. “I’m already 22!” I told her she was lucky because I couldn’t remember 22, let alone 17. Then I realised that I did. “I was performing in musicals at 22,” I told her. “I was having a marvellous time.” Which was not the case today.

I woke up this morning with a swollen right ankle that was disinclined to walk anywhere. It felt like I hadn’t managed to move on since the awful gout I’d experienced after Christmas. I sincerely hope it’s not my body’s reaction to no alcohol!

But I had to go to the Apotek for Emma’s eye ointment. I’d nearly run out and it had only just arrived for collection. Not to mention food for the three of us.

I managed to get shoes on and very slowly walked into town. So slowly that it took me three hours all up. For comparison, when I started walking to the ICA back when we first moved into the house, it would take me an hour and a half. I’m really hoping three hours isn’t the new normal.

Anyway, I managed and, having returned home. I ripped my shoes off and fell onto the lounge for a coffee and a rest.

After lunch, I took the girls for a walk. I think Freya would have been happy to stay inactive, given that seems to be her favourite activity but Emma insisted.

It was not easy getting my shoe back on, but I managed, and we headed for the woods for a very short walk.

On the walk back, I started feeling awful. That was apart from the pain in my ankle which was somewhat beyond awful. I realised I was cold and sleepy. Back at the house I crashed. In fact, I slept for two hours. As well as being unable to walk, I was also in the grip of a cold. I was not a happy chappy.

Actually, I think the happiest bit of today was chatting to Inge, telling her how much I envied her. But Ernst and Edith told me I was an idiot.

The brightest bit of the day was having a lovely long chat with Mirinda before I hit the pillows at about 9pm.

Stalking report

After a short period of virtually none, North Bergen was back with 96 views today. Curiouser and curiouser.
