Lazy day at home

So the freezing, snowy weather took a turn for the warmer today. The snow that had sat, undisturbed, on the ground started vanishing as the temperature steadily rose. The sun almost came out a number of times. Others may disagree but it was not what I’d call cold.

Mirinda left for Swedish class early and Jason went up to town with her. He was spending the day with friends in Stockholm, including a trip to a mini golf course. I expressed my surprise that such a place would be open at this time of year. He suggested that it might be indoors. Good point.

He was originally coming back to Trosa for dinner at Chez Gaz but, later in the day, he texted Mirinda to say he’d had a better offer and was staying in town.

While they were away, I spent a semi-productive day putting a small shelf in my study, adding an inline switch to a string of coloured lights we bought ages ago which I strung up above the kitchen/dining windows, measuring doorways for possible curtains and doing a bit of admin. I also may have rested up a bit following my exhausting yesterday.

Once home, Mirinda had a lovely long video call with Sophie who said that she had found a really cheap (£40) Ryan Air flight to the Canary Islands in order to treat herself to a bit of festive sun and warmth over Christmas. She booked it but then cancelled when she discovered the taxi from the airport would cost her £200, making the cheap flight more than a little redundant.

I had originally planned to make a big cottage pie for the three of us. Given I was warned of Jason’s replanning, I made individual ones for the two of us instead.

It was pretty delicious, even if I do say so myself.
