Leaving Trosa

I have mentioned the Button People before. A young couple living in a house near Nicoline, they have been growing vegetables in their front garden, selling to neighbours and friends. They have tried to make a financial go of it. Sadly, for various reasons, they have not succeeded. Subsequently, they have decided to up sticks and move to Norrtälje.

We call them the Button People because they are young and cute as buttons. They are really called Victor and Ebba. The last time we saw them both together was at Valborg this year. Ebba seemed very sad at the time. Today, however, she was deliriously happy.

Victor wrote and told us they were leaving Trosa and would we like to take fika with them. Obviously we said yes and Mirinda arranged for us all to meet this afternoon at Tre Små Rum.

It was a glorious blue and warm day (though Mirinda wore her snuggly which looked somewhat extreme) and we sat outside. Nicoline came as well, making up a jolly fivesome. In fact, when we arrived, me in shorts and t-shirt and Mirinda in her snuggly, Nicoline wanted to know if we were representing summer and winter.

Anyway, at fika, we mostly discussed the Button People future and why Ebba was so happy. They intend to grow hemp, mostly, on Victor’s grandmother’s run down farm as well as more vegetables. Though, for autumn and winter, they will both get jobs to tide them over. On the other hand, Ebba is just happy to leave the house that has no insulation, not much heating and is more expensive than strictly necessary.

All in all, while sad, it made a nice break and they gave us a farewell gift of some wonderful veg.

In other news, Sally and Kate left us after their short visit, Mirinda did some weight lifting at Friskis&Svettis and I, yet again, cut the grass.

As for the latter, the rain has held off long enough and the house was empty so I could cut to my heart’s content. For as long as the battery lasted, anyway. I managed two charges and will continue tomorrow, weather permitting.

NB: That is only the back, the front is still waiting.

PS: I heard today that the UK Labour government is heading towards introducing a digital ID for all adult citizens. While I don’t necessarily disagree with universal ID, I do wonder why it has to be digital. The idea is, it will be on your phone. My questions: “What happens if your phone goes flat? Or is stolen by the people in London on mopeds? What if you don’t have a smartphone?” I don’t see anyone in parliament asking these crucial questions.
