Devoured with pleasure

We all went boating today. This time, unlike the last two times, I managed to make a quiche for the picnic. It was devoured with pleasure by all concerned. It was not the outcome forecast, though it was much preferred. The thing is, Kate had warned us that she sometimes gets seasick and could vomit. We assured her that would be fine, as long as she did it over the side of the boat.

As it turned out, Kate wasn’t sick at all. No churning tummy, no unwelcome chundering. It was all rosy, even though the return trip was rather choppy.

Actually, the return trip saw a bit of expert fishing by Kate. Sally’s cap had flown off her head and into the sea, threatening to sink at any moment. But, with Mirinda’s bionic eyes and expert boating skills, Sally’s spotting and pointing and Kate’s harpooning with the boat hook, the cap was retrieved with great female precision.

Back on the island, we once more had the place to ourselves, though it was a bit breezier than last time. This saw us eating behind a building because of the cold wind gusting round us.

Wind aside, it was an absolutely gorgeous sun-drenched day; perfect boating weather. Our time on the island was a delight.

Earlier, we’d had an unexpected visitor who dropped off some theatre tickets which she thought were for tomorrow. When she discovered she wouldn’t be going into Stockholm after all, she stayed to chat, and we arranged to pop over tomorrow for fika. She (it was Nicoline) met our guests, and we all had a great chat before heading down to the dock.

The others went for a walk around the island while I stayed and read. And guarded the boat against the possible arrival of pirates. I fully intend to go for a walk on one of these trips now that I can walk a lot easier. But I’m still getting used to the new feet freedom so it might be a while yet. Although I walked to the shops first thing and it was, like yesterday, wonderful

In fact, a few times I stopped using my walking stick just to test myself. It was one small step for a man, one huge step for Gaz.

Having recovered from our trip to Kråmö, we had a lovely dinner followed by some raucous discussion about various people we all know. It was an excellent night.

Above is their bid to become a place mat.
