Flying in from Paris

The rain managed to hold off until around 5:20pm today. The timing was pretty amazing because it coincided with Lisa’s arrival. As she walked towards the car, rain started spotting the windscreen. Up until then, the day had been beautiful. I even managed to have Reading Hour on the deck.

Lisa is with us for the week as a break from her international round of meetings. For instance, she was in China the other day and she flew from Paris today. Quite the jet-setter is Lisa.

We sat around and chatted for ages. There was lots to talk about. Even Sam joined in for a bit. He’s in Washington DC and called his mum for a bit of a chat. When I said the last time I saw him was in Burgundy when he ate the snail, it caused great hilarity. That was back in 2015. There used to be a rather hilariously embarrassing video of the event but Jack removed it from the Internet.

Lisa had Sam on speaker and I popped out of the kitchen to declare that he sounded like a fully grown man. Not surprising I guess, given the ten-year gap in hearing his voice.

Obviously, we also discussed Anna and Max and their current adventures.

All in all, it was a lovely night, full of promise for the rest of the week.

The other thing that happened today was an unexpected and entirely random text message from Jim the Poodle Man. Actually, ‘text message’ is a bit of a misnomer. He sent me a photo he took of me and Sean back on Valborg Night without a shred of text.

I seem to remember that Sean insisted that Jim take the photo.

I almost forgot. In a moment of great disappointment, Nicoline brought two of her grandsons over to see the dogs today, 15 minutes after Mirinda took them for a walk – the dogs, not the grandsons. I was washing the kitchen floor.
