Queen performed at the Last Night of the Proms last night. Joining the BBC Symphony orchestra and a big choir, Brian May and Roger Taylor led a resounding rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody. Oddly, I was listening to the World Service when the story came on and, just as the chorus sang “Thunderbolts and Lightning, very very frightening, me”, the sky outside suddenly exploded into great claps of thunder and bright flashes of lightning. It was like Freddie was joining in from wherever he was.
Needless to say, I didn’t go shopping as the weather erupted above the house. I know enough not to walk through the woods during lightning so I gratefully accepted Mirinda’s offer to drive me up.
Then, as we sat having a coffee and watching the rain, Mirinda noticed she had no connection to the wifi. I looked around and realised the power had gone off. Presumably, I figured, because of a lightning strike.
Mirinda ran around shutting windows, keeping the heat inside. Just as she returned to the rocking chair, the power came back on. This was a very short power failure. KSP told me theirs was much longer. It started two days ago and the electricity didn’t return until gone 1am yesterday morning.
Speaking of KSP, she and Jonas popped in on the way to Friskis&Svettis today to show us their new orange car. Okay, it looks red in the photo, but it’s definitely orange.
Much taken by our Tiguan, they have bought one for themselves. It looks very clean and almost brand new. Jonas assured us that wouldn’t last. It’ll soon look like ours. Well, apart from the colour, I guess.

And there was me thinking that Tiguans only came in black. And white. And silver.
And the rain eventually stopped. The day ended with intermittent bursts of sunshine. Tomorrow however…
