Starting on the 5th of May this year and finishing on October 31, the Trosa Everest Challenge is a way of promoting good health and exercise in nature. The challenge is to climb Mount Trosa as many times as it takes to climb Everest. Apparently it’s 221 times. I have no idea how many times I’ve huffed and puffed my way up but feel I may be close.

Not really.

Just kidding.

It’s probably more like 21 times. But, as I said, I’m not counting.

Today, Mirinda returned to her Swedish classes at Folkuniversitet, which means, in part, that the girls accompanied me to the summit. But, weirdly, our path was blocked by mounds of earth.

Obviously, I have no idea what it’s for though it did a great job of diverting my progress. I should state that there is another, narrower, slightly overgrown track to the left of the photograph but the track we follow is, I would think, the main one for anyone wanting to complete the Trosa Everest Challenge.

No big problem, really but I think it a bit odd that of all places to dump the dirt, they had to choose to do it where they did. Whoever ‘they’ are, it’s a bit inconsiderate. And odd. Maybe ‘they’ thought they’d introduce a bit of a dirt bike scramble to the whole climb the mountain exercise.

Anyway, suffice it to say, we manage to get to the top, along with a much speedier couple that looked like they may have been mother and son. They managed at least two climbs to our single effort. But, of course, we headed into the woods to make our way down the other side of the hill.

Apart from the sound of MTB people, gravelling through the woods on the other side of the track, we were alone, enjoying the coolness between the trees. Yes, the weather was hot and sweaty and the shade a welcome relief when it occurred.

The heat was much more obvious when I resumed the marathon cutting of the grass back at home. There had been early morning showers just to make sure the grass would be at maximum wetness, especially for me. It made the whole job especially irritating.

I managed a little bit more of the back garden.

I am firmly of the opinion that I won’t finish before the grass cutting season comes to an end.

However, in more exciting news, our very own Jonas, along with Erik and Johan, or Team Gone Fishing as they are called, came 7th in this year’s Abborfestivalen in Uppsala.
