I saw the Running Man today, twice. There’s nothing unusual about seeing him on the way to the ICA. I often see him sort of soft jogging up the hill. We exchange little more than a ‘Morn’ as we pass each other. His status as my nemesis is long gone. No, what was unusual was the second time I saw him today.

We had to take the car in for a service and chose a place in Vagnhärad which seemed to offer a good deal while still being good at what they do. Confusingly, the garage is one of two, side by side. And, obviously, I directed Mirinda to the wrong one.

I was standing in the small office of the wrong one when the mechanic called to say I needed to be next door. He walked over and in part English, part Swedish, he explained where we should actually park.

The thing is, both places are named with just initials, which is not helpful and the one I went to had a bigger sign and, therefore, was easier to find.

Anyway, all was well, and we left Zed and collected a pistachio coloured loan car (Mirinda reckoned it belonged to the mechanic) and went back home for a few hours. When we returned, to pick the car up, we walked around the corner of the building and there, sitting on a chair talking to a couple of guys, was the Running Man.

I was shocked for a second, after all, I am used to seeing him in a particular place and time. I said hej in response to his equally surprised tjena as we passed.

Apart from that, there were no surprises and the car was returned to us without the annoying message about it needing a service, flashing on the dashboard screen.

By the time we returned to the house, it was time for Mirinda to go for a boating lesson with Roger, which she enjoyed immensely while I made dinner.

Then, after dinner, we played Scrabble. We have decided that some nights, after dinner, rather than watch TV, we’d play board games. This was our first time and we loved it. Actually, I loved it more because I won.
