I can’t remember what I was doing on my 25th birthday. I can only assume I was drunk or under the influence of some other substance. What I do know is that I was living with Ann-Marie at the time, the woman Mirinda calls my ‘first wife’ because we lived together for almost ten years in what could easily be described as a first marriage.
Maybe Charlie will remember her 25th which she spent on the deck in Woop Woop, sitting around eating, drinking, dancing and playing musical games, with friends and relatives (and friends of relatives).

We were a raucous bunch so it was good we were in Woop Woop, though I think the wildlife may have moved.
Speaking of wildlife, just before getting to our driveway, on the way home, we were held up by a big old hare in the middle of the road. It was giving us the old stare down. Mirinda, the one with the bionic eyes, said there was a cat in the long grass outside the dead house. It didn’t attack the hare which, after a few indecisive hops, headed off, up the road and out of sight.
But, back at the party…as I said, there was dancing, as there almost always is at a KSP function. Oh, how I would have enjoyed that when I was 25. At 69, however, my ankle was not happy at all. Still, you can’t sit around and grumble. In my limited way, I joined in. We shall see what tomorrow brings.
There was also lots of chatting and mingling as the food was prepared and eagerly devoured.

Mind you, Freya didn’t like the dancing. She was all shaking and desperate for holding. Outside of fireworks and loud thunder, I’ve never seen her so afraid. It must have been the frightening vision of 11 humans prancing about. Or she just didn’t like the music. I ended up picking her up and soothing her till she calmed down.
Though she didn’t mind the music played for the quiz we had. Of course, we were all sitting down and she’d found a lap or two to settle in. Actually, she was quite generous, moving around the room, sampling laps and snuggling up to strangers, like she is wont to do. She did reserve the vast quantity of lap time to KSP.
Emma, of course, had little time for the humans, having found a ball that various people threw off the deck, only for her to bring it back.
Overall, it was a great night. There was a barbecue, ice cream buffet, all sorts of salads and sauces and, of course, wine, beer and bubbles. There was also a delicious lemon liquid concoction that Charlie made. It was like limoncello without the syrupy punch. It was, in fact, delicious and very morish. KSP assured me it was quite alcoholic.
The music quiz, organised and run by the birthday girl, was full of songs of which we had to guess the title and artist. There were also related questions following blocks of songs. There was also an over arching question related to our years of birth. I don’t think anyone guessed that one.
We had been put in teams of three. I had Jonas and Wilma as teammates. We did very well though were pipped at the post by KSP’s team. As you’d expect. I enjoyed it. Not so much for the quiz (it must be stated that I was pretty shit at guessing the newer songs), but because it gave me a chance to mix with Jonas and Wilma. We had a good laugh.
Still, all good things must end, even 25th birthday parties. We drove Nicoline home, then had our encounter with the hare.

Hopefully, the birthday girl, had as good a time as I did.

Sounds like a very jolly birthday party!! 🎈
I would have loved the ice cream buffet!! 🍨
