I was rather rudely woken up by the rain this morning. At around 04:30, it came pouring loudly from the sky. My first thought was how much I didn’t want to go shopping in it. My second thought caused a smile to crease my sleepy features. I had finished the mowing.
Of course, three hours later, when I left for the shops, the rain had stopped. And, gradually over the course of the day, the clouds cleared and the blue sky returned so, by the other end of the day, we could eat on the deck.
As for all the time in between, it was mostly spent preparing for the arrival of our newest guest, Sophie. Mirinda went in to Stockholm to meet her and take her for a wander around before getting home in time for meatballs which I was told to make especially.
The only other thing I did today was start to develop a second blog, featuring my research into the Surrey soldiers on WWI memorials. I’ve been toying with continuing the work I have been doing with the Surrey History Centre over the years but which stopped last April.
I have tried a few options but, finally figured it would be easiest to just create a new, simple, no fuss blog and enter the information onto it, leaving it freely available to anyone who might want the information. It’s still in its infancy but if anyone would like to see it, it is here.
After dinner, Mirinda took Sophie and the dogs for a walk around Stensund, given how beautiful it looked last night. Having cleaned up my kitchen, I went for a walk around the house which was a lot less strenuous.

By the way, sitting on the deck having dinner, Sophie understood, immediately, why we loved living here.

Sophie was not however as enthusiastic about the insects – she prefers an insect free zone
