The Lions Market is one of the Trosa highlights of the year. We loved it last year. Thousands attend from all over the place. Lots of stalls line the streets, catering to everyone. From guacamole cheese to ratmarks*, you can buy just about anything. We love it.

And the weather was perfect. It actually felt like summer.
The only disappointment was not finding a new walking stick to replace the one I stupidly left in Seville. There were a few wood working stands but no sticks, sadly. Fortunately, there were enough food stalls to drown my misery and keep me happy.
Oddly enough, we parked in almost the same spot as we did last year; a perfect spot to do an oddly shaped full circle. Equally oddly was that we didn’t encounter anyone we knew as we wandered around. I’m not going to count KSP and Anna BoomBoom because they had a stall and we knew we’d see them.
And not just see them. Anna BoomBoom made a whole bunch of bracelets and convinced us to buy one each. KSP selected just the right green one for my wrist, while Mirinda managed to snafu the pink one.

Jonas had baked 100 buns to be sold for a choice of three charities. Obviously they were delicious and, equally obviously, we bought six and ate them all after lunch with a cup of tea/coffee. We were only going to have the one but, then, it’s pretty impossible to resist Jonas’ buns.
Actually, we did see someone we, sort of, knew. Again, they were at a stall. They were selling their exquisite silver jewellery. We saw them at the Viking Festival in Stockholm, during the Big Birthday Long Weekend, when they told us they’d be on the centrum bridge for the Lions Market. And there they were.
Then, of course, we spotted the Trosa Gelato trike and, I suppose, you could say we know the guy who owns and runs the shop. At least, we’ve eaten a lot of his perfect ice cream and he seems to recognise us. Of course, we had an ice cream.
Actually, I admit we ate a lot of stuff we shouldn’t have today, including a cannoli from 27. But, in our defence, it was all absolutely delicious and a once a year kind of thing.
Mind you, the Chez Gaz charcuterie board lunch was okay…if you ignore the crackers we had with it.

* A ratmark is a crocheted bookmark with the head of a rat. They are made by Irene, one of Anna BoomBoom’s neighbours and are delightfully odd.
