Oh, but it’s sad when a love affair dies

Oh dear, BFF Elon and Donald have had a falling out. There have been a lot of bitchy things being thrown about today. Lots of it has been fake. Like the Twitter post supposedly from Trump that states that Tesla cars are very gay and he wouldn’t be seen dead in one. And speaking of gay posts, I particularly like this one, especially given it’s Pride Month.

In a moment of childish revenge, Trump threatened to cut Musk’s “Governmental Subsidies and Contracts” which subsequently saw Telsa stock drop by 14% within hours of the row bursting out into the public domain. Musk retaliated by saying he’d dismantle his Space X rockets; the ones that NASA uses to get to the ISS. (He quickly back-pedalled on that one.) He also said that Trump should be impeached immediately.

The spat apparently started because of the stupidly named Big Beautiful Bill. Trump loves it, but Musk claims it will destroy the US economy. Apart from anything else, the name sounds like a friendly giant in a country and western song who comes to a bad end. It’s obviously named so people with quite a low IQ can understand the words.

Like a couple of ten-year-olds, the insults flew around social media most of the day. The thing is though, in this post truth world, can we believe it? Is it all fake? A lot of people are asking this. Is it a massive diversion because of something a lot more sinister? Is this a dead cat situation? A plot to get people to avert their eyes from something else going on?

If the whole childish squabble is real and Trump winds up being impeached, what then? While I rate Trump pretty low, I would not want to see JD Vance as president. That would definitely swing things too far right for any sensible person. And, if you think about it, is this what Musk wants? Following his support of the AFD in Germany earlier this year, one can only wonder at his ulterior motives. Will they be the next bosom buddies?

Anyway, while that was all going on, I waited, on hand to help Mirinda get her final assignment sent off to the uni. The deadline was 6pm today. She sent it just after 5pm. With great relief, I should add.

And the weather was pretty shit.

PS: The title today comes from the Lloyd Webber/Rice musical Evita.
