Not muffins and not cake

I spent a lot of time in the garden again, today. There was a change of plan regarding the raised beds, so a halt was called to that job while another, more important one was completed. The important job involved the bleeding hearts and the astilbes.

Mirinda decided they should go in the wild patch out the front, where a load of ferns are growing. This is because of the amount of shade and level of dampness. Apparently, it’s a real Goldilocks situation.

Of course, before I started digging, I went shopping. We’d invited KSP and Jonas for dinner following an expressed desire to try my bacon and egg muffins. I decided to make them the entrée to a dinner of Joey layer cake. Subsequently, Mirinda texted KSP that the first was not a muffin and the second was not a cake.

There was also shopping for essential hardware at Woody’s. This was mostly for screws but also included a few much-needed tools. Which was a bit annoying because I have a whole load of tools in the shed at Farnham. Unfortunately, they are a bit far away for me to access.

On the way back from Woody’s, we stopped off at Emil’s Backe to sample the lunches at Bistro le Snack which has replaced Chez Charlotte this year. We had toasted sandwiches and they were delicious. I particularly liked the little glass jars of diced salad.

There was really only one thing I didn’t like about Chez Charlotte and that was their overzealous use of balsamic vinegar on their salads. That appears to now be a thing of the past.

There is also another little shop selling local produce. I grabbed two packs of frozen sausages from Bergs gård. Mirinda grabbed a jar of unusual marmalade.

Then it was back to the house to dig four big holes and clear away a couple of little oak trees. This was a horrible job. Okay, if I was still capable of using a shovel properly, it wouldn’t have been as bad.

I find it very frustrating trying, and failing, to dig and maintain my balance at the same time. Fortunately, I could take my frustrations out on the ground with the sharp end of my digging tools. With a bit of liberal swearing thrown in for added effect.

Still, eventually all was finished and I could start on dinner while Mirinda went to gympa, leading our guests back afterwards.

And we ate out on the deck. Well, to be accurate, on the table on the deck. The day had been glorious and it seemed a terrible waste to sit inside. Though, I think I was the only one that thought so given the fact that the others were eventually wrapped up against, what they called, the cold. Obviously, I was wearing shorts and a t-shirt.

I think dinner was a success. Afterwards we moved to the lounge where we discussed the reasons for having such a big TV. (We blamed KSP, saying we only bought it so she could watch Eurovision properly.)

It seems that Emma has started to warm to Jonas, finally. At least, their proximity in the above photograph seems to indicate that.
