Acting up in class

It’s been years since I saw my wife in action, and there she was, in all her glory, directing a lively group of English students in a classroom at Stensund, getting them to work as a team and create a car using only themselves. There was also a Christmas tree, a tent and, remarkably, a seagull.

KSP and Mirinda worked together on creating a class devoted to the art of acting. And it was such fun. There was a lot of laughter. In, best of all, the students all happily joined in.

I was merely a spectator this time as Mirinda had the class ‘play theatre games’. There were exercises in awareness, focus, imagination and trust. I was very impressed with the trust circle they created. And the one (clap), two (stand still), three (bob) exercise was hilarious.

Of course, we had lunch in the main building first, soaking in the splendid views over the Baltic. It has to be one of the best places to eat as well as teach. And, it was so hot today, that there were people eating outside, enjoying the sunshine. Of course, I was the only one who thought it was actually ‘hot’.

On the Grace Scale, it was just above freezing but, on the Gaz Scale, at 20°, it was boiling.

I’m going to miss KSP’s English classes and the students. Apart from anything else, being in a classroom where only English MUST be spoken was a refreshing change.
