Forgot me not

It was another productive day here. Harald turned up and painted a load more window and door frames, Mirinda took the girls for a couple of walks as well as doing some study and I shopped, made a second light blocking out curtain and cooked a new French meal. I also remembered to plant the forget-me-nots.

And, talking of flowers, I noticed that Inge had a bit of a celebration this week.

The thing I loved best about the flowers placed around Inge’s grave is the fact that not one single bunch is wrapped in plastic. It used to irritate me no end in Farnham Park when people left flowers on commemorative benches, dedicated to loved ones, with the plastic still wrapped around the bouquets.

This wonderful and effusive floral display, shows how popular Inge was…and still is. I wish I’d known her when she was alive. Still, she’s a great listener.

So, having had a one-sided chat with my birthday buddy, I headed home under blue sky and bright sunshine, which I very quickly blocked out by making the second hanging curtain. I also made some hooks for them to hang in the walk-in wardrobe for when the sun isn’t glaring up the telly. I say ‘hooks’. Actually, I just put a few screws in the wall.

Possibly the highlight of the day was dinner. I decided to try one of Géraldine’s recipes.

I made her filet mignon du porc with honey almond beans. Mirinda enthusiastically declared it delicious and easily guest worthy. It was a lot better than the photo indicates.

I should also point out that the pork wasn’t as pink as it appears in the photo. It was perfectly cooked. If I do say so myself.

Thank you, Géraldine.
