Four years ago today, we received our Swedish residency making us, as Eva said, New Swedes. You can read about that here. I often wonder what happened to Eva. She half owned the place we stayed in when we first visited Varmland. She headed off for somewhere troubled and far-flung.
It all feels so long ago but also, in an odd kind of way, like yesterday. When I think back to our first four years in the UK, it’s all a bit lost in the mists of my memory. There were so many things to deal with, mainly to do with finding work and accommodation. Not to mention things like the Y2K problem into which I was thrown, unceremoniously, while working at Global Beauty.
It’s a pity I wasn’t keeping a journal back then. A lot of our early UK years are lost to me.
Anyway, enough musings on long forgotten days. Today was not particularly memorable and will be forgettable very quickly. In short, the weather was a bit rubbish and not a lot happened. I’d like to say it was a bit of a rest after the hectic Big Birthday Long Weekend but it was more like getting things back to normal rather than resting.
Of course, I went shopping first thing and Mirinda worked away in her study. I made lunch and cooked dinner and we watched a bit of telly. It was all pretty dull and not really worth writing about.
Harald came round and painted a few more window frames, so there was that.
And the girls continued to shiver, given the drop in temperature and their lack of hair.
I didn’t even take a photo today, so I include this odd little Alice themed ornament I spotted at the flat we stayed in on Söder.

Sorry. The photo is annoyingly blurry.
I should have titled this post “Don’t bother reading” it is so dull. At least it’s mercifully short.
