This morning saw us heading over to Nyköping for the all important change from winter to summer tyres on Zed. In fact, the last time we visited Nyköping, back in November, it was for the opposite. As we noted, while driving back home, it’s a shame we only go to our ‘county town’ when we need something rather than just visit.
Anyway, our branch of Euromaster has moved. Not far from where it used to be but enough to keep us on our toes. And it is so much nicer than before. More like the first branch we visited in late 2020, right after Tommy (of the Perfect Swedish Family) told us about winter tyres.

The old branch was nice enough but the waiting and coffee area was very small. The new one is more like an upmarket hotel reception area.
As efficient as ever, Zed was in and out in less than 15 minutes and we headed back home, via the scenic route. Of course, we’ll have to do the same with Max. He’s booked in for tomorrow morning.
Back at home, the beautiful sunshine and warmth provided me with a deck which was the perfect spot for Reading Hour. And for Mirinda to take the girls around the mountain. It was definitely a day for shorts and I took full advantage of it.
Actually, as I mentioned to Mirinda, as I get older so my tolerance for temperatures seems to improve. Downwards, at least. Unlike the usual thing whereby the older you get, the colder you feel, my system seems to go the other way. I remember when 18° was my shorts tipping point; now it seems to be 15°. There’s no way I’d survive a retirement or nursing home. The heat would kill me long before old age.
Speaking of killing, I finished reading Agrippina today.
[SPOILER ALERT] It ends in her murder, planned by her son, Nero. It’s a somewhat ignominious end to a fascinating woman. More than that though, it’s a fantastically written biography by Emma Southon.
In the epilogue, Dr Southon wrote something about Nero that reminded me of a certain orange president currently plaguing the world.

It’s interesting to note that Agrippina shares a birthday with me and Inge Andersson, which is a lovely coincidence.
