Following on from yesterday’s burst of home improvement activity, today I decided to create a few more shelves in my pantry. It was a bit irritating that there was a gap at the bottom of each shelf and I needed to halve the distance between them. So, using some old bits of leftover wood, I added a few shelves.

It took me a while but, eventually, it was fixed.
In another incidence of fixing, America’s billionaires just got a lot richer thanks to Donald Trump. He encouraged people to buy stock shortly before putting a hold on the global tariffs he put in place last week. The New York Stock Exchange suddenly grew by 9% following the president’s announcement. The US Senate is now investigating if it was insider trading. I’m not sure why they are saying ‘if’.
Meanwhile, I read on Bluesky that Marjorie Taylor Greene‘s “…net worth went from $700,000 to $22 million in one morning ! How did she know to buy at [that] particular time?” I have no idea where the person found the dollar value of Greene’s portfolio. A very impartial report from msn just deals with the facts.
Of course, that doesn’t help the vast population of America. Like the guy who sells musical instruments. He was interviewed on The World Service this morning. His best violins are made in China and sell for a premium. Under the 145% tariff that Trump has announced will be placed on China, this guy will suffer a great deal.
He will make no money selling anything Chinese. In fact, he will sell at a loss. Or price himself out of the market if he increases his costs in line with the tariff. He might even go out of business. He was one of the idiots who voted for Trump both in 2016 and 2024. When asked if he would still vote for the man who, more than likely, will ruin his livelihood, his answer was an emphatic “Yes!“
I also read a piece from the Independent which claims that whenever there’s a US cabinet meeting, everyone entering the room must suck up to Trump, telling him what a wonderful and great leader he is. How is that different to North Korea, is a question that springs to mind. And, actually, this is further strengthened by the introduction of tacky gold Trump head lapel pins which everyone is expected to wear.
Here, in Trosa, a sea and an ocean away, life goes on like normal.
Having brought it up the other day, I feel it only right that I comment on the sterling job being done by the people digging up the road on the way to the ICA. Not only are they progressing at a decent rate, they have also reinstated half of the footpath. It means no nasty road crossings for yours truly.

It may be narrow but, given my basic training was served in Britain, it is easily wide enough for me and my trolley.
Now THAT is doing the right thing for the general population. Take note, America.
Good point Sheldon!
