Recycled plank

After Harald and Roger finished repairing our shed, I said I’d put a shelf up, using a bit of old wood that was laying round. In order to do it, I needed to buy four brackets. Normally, I get the things I need at Clas Ohlsen when I go to Stockholm. There are obviously options in Trosa, but they are either too far for me to walk to or over-priced. It’s better to combine a trip to an art gallery or museum with a visit to Clas Ohlsen.

For the last little while, the branch of Clas Ohlsen I go to in Drottninggatan has been rearranging its hardware section, in particular the display units containing the brackets. So, a lack of brackets equalled a lack of shelf. Of course, we also spent a month in Portugal.

Anyway, the other day failure turned to success and I managed to buy the brackets I needed. And, today, while Mirinda was visiting the optician and then an Iron Age burial site, I finally put the shelf up.

I took the photo above before I’d added the two centre brackets. I was interrupted by Mirinda’s return from the optician.

Speaking of Harald and Roger, they were at the house today, sanding, washing and painting our window frames. They were all originally painted grey, but Mirinda preferred white. By the end of the day, half of them were white. They will be back tomorrow to paint some more. And maybe get rid of the big ugly white cupboards in the glass room.

After they’d finished for the day and before Mirinda returned from the Jordbro burial site, I took the girls for a romp up Mount Trosa and through the woods.

The weather started off beautiful but, by the time we headed into the woods, the sky was grey with threatening rain. The rain, when it arrived, consisted of about fifteen drops. I almost missed it. I only noticed the drops on the deck when I let the girls out to go to the loo. But, by that time, it had been and gone.

Oddly enough, the colour in the sky above matched the original colour of our window frames.
