Filling in the gaps

At 2:30 this morning, Emma let me know she wanted to go to the loo. She does this sometimes and, while irritating, I have come to realise that I usually need to go as well. Maybe Emma senses the fact that I need to go. It may just be that she has established some sort of telepathic link with me. Without my knowledge.

Anyway, as I said, she woke me up at 2:30am and I let her outside.

It was very dark outside. Not that that was because daylight saving happened yesterday. I’m pretty sure it’s always dark at 2:30 in the morning. Emma disappeared into the pitch.

Normally, she returns pretty quickly afterwards but not this morning. Eventually, I went looking for her. A strange noise was coming from under the ramp that leads up to the deck. It sounded like a cocker-poo was on her back, scrapping the underside with her paws.

I tried to quietly coax her out from under the ramp but she was ignoring me. I wasn’t about to start shouting so I resorted to the old bounce the tennis ball trick. Her delighted little face appeared and I scooped her up and dumped her back on the bed.

That’s a rather long-winded way to say that I spent some time today temporarily filling in the gap between the ramp and the ground, to avoid such a thing happening in the future. While I was doing it, I formulated a more permanent temporary measure which I shall implement later. I was also ably assisted by a still very sick Mirinda who, through her fevered brow and awful cough, provided me with an excellent suggestion for finishing the job off.

Not that it was my only job today. I also had to record my latest Letter from Sweden. Because I missed February due to not having the latest recording schedule, I suggested to Charles that I would send them to him on the first of each month. He said this was an excellent idea. I was a day early for this Letter because I didn’t want anyone to think it was an April Fool trick.

Here’s the latest Letter.

To prevent the recording being awash with Mirinda’s awful hacking cough, I recorded it in the stuga. I think the sound quality is excellent and may just record there all the time now.

It wasn’t the only time I spent in the stuga today as I also worked out given I wasn’t planning to go shopping today. I then doubled my exercise by going shopping after lunch. There were some important supplies that Mirinda needed.

Fortunately, it was a beautiful day.

I never tire of the view from the deck. And, best of all, it’s as quiet as the photograph. Well, except for the delightful bird noise. And the occasional spurt of coughing from inside.
