Women wielding chainsaws

As I made my way back from the ICA this morning (yes, the gout has almost gone), I came across a small truck parked on the path through the woods. As I reached it, I realised it was an Orca work truck (Orca looks after the Kommun). I then heard the gentle thrum of a chainsaw.

When the machines topped, two women emerged from the trees. They were wearing helmets, goggles, ear defenders, fluorescent overalls, etc. In fact, they were dressed as you’d expect a tree feller to dress.

As I reached them, the blonde one told me they were cutting down Christmas trees for the kommun. The brunette just nodded. I was tempted to ask them if they could come and cut up the tree behind us that fell down last year.

Obviously I didn’t. Mainly because I don’t have the Swedish. Also because they were a bit scary. And sexy. I rather like women with heavy machinery.

Speaking of not having much Swedish, the band I reported on last Saturday posted my blog on their Facebook page tonight. I had a text from KSP apologising for it. I’m assuming there’ll be a bit of an uptick in views tomorrow. The introduction they wrote was pretty explicit about my lack of Swedish.

In the meanwhilst, our new neighbour moved in yesterday. A few weeks ago, Beth from Next Door (who henceforth will be called Beth from Göteborg) and Matts moved out to their new flat in Göteborg, and we haven’t had sight or sound of the new owner. Then, a few days ago, I spotted a small van in the driveway. Then, yesterday, the removals truck turned up and disgorged its contents.

Today, there were four cars (including the van), two of which were parked on the road, but no humans that I could see. Or hear. Mind you, the bedroom light has been on for two days.

The only reason I can see all the activity is because of the time of year. The hedge between us and the neighbour has lost all of its leaves, and we can see right through it. For a nosey neighbour like me, this is ideal.

According to Beth from Göteborg, our new neighbour has huskies. If so, they are not at the house or they are very, very quiet and somewhat invisible. And I reckon Emma would have let us know even if they were invisible.

Speaking of dogs, this is what happens when Mirinda returns from uni.

A nanosecond before this was taken, they were sitting on my lap, watching out the window. Then they saw the car lights…
