On a Wednesday, when I essentially do a beer run into Trosa, I keep a keen eye out for Klas, the guy who sold us the house. His office is opposite the Systembolaget. Sometimes, when I’ve seen him, he’ll come over and come booze shopping with me. I found out, a while ago, that it’s his favourite shop as well.
I haven’t seen him for quite a while and, this morning, I found out why.
We were in Tre Små Rum enjoying the most delicious scrambled eggs outside of Chez Gaz, when a man approached Mirinda and scared the daylights out of her. She had her back to him. I spotted him and, realising it was Klas, let him frighten Mirinda because I’m that kind of generous husband.
Actually, we’d been quite lucky with our choice of time. As we sat, enjoying our brunch, a sudden cloudburst had people dashing for the scant protection of the little awning outside our window.
Anyway, after Mirinda had collected herself sufficiently, Klas stopped and chatted. The reason I hadn’t seen him for a while is because he has changed offices. He now spends his time between Södertälje and Gnesta. He still lives in Trosa, and, like us, was enjoying brunch, in his case, with his wife and daughter.
After a bit of chat, he lowered his voice, as if about to impart something scandalous. In fact, he wanted to let us know that there was also an amazing Sunday brunch across the way at Två Små Svin. That’s the second recommendation we’ve had for it, so we might just have to indulge ourselves one weekend.
It was excellent seeing and chatting with Klas and, once again, reminded us of what it’s like living in a smallish community. It’s rare that we don’t run into someone we know. I love it. It’s almost like having a massive extended family.
Something else I love is the weird things I sometimes see. If I’m ready with my phone, I try and capture these things. I’m not always quick enough, or there’s too many people around, however, today I was dropping off the recycling when I saw this:
That’s not normally how they empty the big bins, but it’s a nifty bit of parking.
