Today was my annual ‘make Delia’s Christmas cake’ day. Delia, for the uninitiated, is Delia Smith whose Christmas cake recipe I wholeheartedly recommend. I have made it most years since forever. And the best thing, apart from eating it, is the smell that permeates the house during the four-hour cooking time.
I realise it’s still September and some people will blanch at the thought of the ‘C’ word but, it’s only today, and it will be forgotten by the weekend.
What won’t be forgotten for a while is the fact that we had a test at SFI today. An actual, written test. I can’t remember the last time I had to take a test. It was probably the one I took to get my ISEB qualification, years ago.
Against all odds and my own beliefs, I managed to pass the ISEB exam. I can only hope I do the same with SFI.
Ninni took the exam and made a big thing of getting the students to get rid of their phones, books and bits of paper before handing out the exam papers. There was a bit of confusion over writing names and dates at the top of the page but, eventually, we started.
I felt a bit sorry for poor Zarah who has been away for ages and, the first day she returns, she’s given a test to complete.
As for me, I had a bit of a problem differentiating between vad, var and vem but, generally, I understood most of the questions and provided answers to them all. I think my parsing of a block of text was pretty accurate. However, my fate is now in the lap of the examiners.
Not really. I just like being melodramatic.
Back at home, it was Taco Tisdag. It’s not always Taco Tisdag but, this morning, I asked Mirinda what she’d like for dinner and that was her choice. And, of course, it’s a Tuesday. Or tisdag as we say here in Sweden.
In health matters, Jason was much better today. So much so that he has decided to go to work tomorrow. He even rode his bike up to the ICA to test if he could. He managed it well enough and made his decision. Apart from a cough, he seems much better.
