After a morning of rain and a day of mixed weather, the afternoon turned out beautiful. Beautiful enough for me to finish the mowing, anyway. It has to be said though, that autumn is sliding in with temperatures taking a bit of a tumble, something that isn’t helping Jason who has been brought down with a cold.
He says he could have caught it anywhere but my money is on his recent return plane journey from Paris. It was with Ryanair after all. Mind you, on second thoughts, they never give anything away for free, so maybe not.
Consequently, and courtesy of his medical condition, we didn’t see a lot of Jason today. He was originally going into Stockholm but, as his face dropped and his voice became less coherent, he decided to lay low. At one stage he did ride his bike to the ICA but reckoned that this just exacerbated things.
Speaking of bicycles, there’s something afoot at the MTB track. The big area where they started building the route last year which was utilised as a sort of lunch/meeting/dirt storage spot, has been gravelled over.

I can’t say I’m overly pleased with the plastic ground sheet underneath. I realise what it’s for but that doesn’t mean I have to like it. Of course, given that thick plastic will probably never break down, the weeds (and every other organism underneath it) will not grow through the rocks. Nothing like a bit of monoculture. Or nono-culture.
In more building news, following my flurry of building last week, I topped things off yesterday, by making a little side table for the printer. I was finding it quite annoying, taking up too much space on my desk so I decided to do something constructive about it.
There was enough room between the bookcase and the desk so I went outside and selected some appropriate bits of wood. As well as recycling bits of the deck, I also used a couple of the left over posts. These made very sturdy legs.
Given the screws holding it all together came from ones I already had means that I bought nothing new to make it. I was very pleased with that.

Fits nicely, I think.
