Relishing the day

I haven’t climbed Mount Trosa for ages. Today the summit looked very enticing as we skirted the bottom. Emma looked at me, seemingly suggesting that we go up rather than round today, adding a bit of variety. Freya was a bit doubtful but followed us anyway.

The weather was quite hot – for me anyway – and the sweat flowed freely from my pores. Eventually, I stood on the rock at the top, looking over the far off views.

We then sat down on a rock for a bit of recovery time.

Following unfamiliar tracks, we scrambled around in the woods, enjoying the shade and the slight breeze before, eventually finding our way home. We saw a couple of people, at a distance, but, otherwise, it felt like we had the place completely to ourselves.

Back at home, we collapsed on the deck, sitting in the shade, waiting for our temperatures to drop a bit. Actually, that was Freya and me. Emma wanted the ball throwing to commence. Crazy dog.

Having cooled down a bit, I headed for the kitchen.

Last week, when we bought the veg box from Raija, there were quite a few tomatoes. Not wanting to waste them, I decided to whip up a batch of tomato relish. I’d never made tomato relish before so it was all a bit experimental.

As I was stirring the pot for the final stage of quite an extensive operation, Beth from next door brought over some cinnamon buns she’d made this morning when she couldn’t sleep. She does this a lot – bake in the early hours when she can’t sleep.

She was intrigued by the relish.

Finally, while I was chatting to Mirinda in Malmö, I bottled up. The taste is quite strong, but I think, mixed in with some mince or as a side for poppadoms, it’ll be very good.

It’s remarkable how evenly I managed to fill the bottles. I’d only realised after looking at the photo above.

As far as Malmö goes, Mirinda seems to have fallen in love with the place. Especially with one particular establishment which, she claimed, was now her favourite café in the whole, entire world. That’s a big claim considering the number of cafés she’s visited around the world.
