Heading north

I left work at 3pm so we could travel to Upton in Northamptonshire. Obviously, the M25 was a mess. So we took the back roads, which meant it took the longest time to reach the M1. It then took a couple of minutes to travel the final 30 miles.

The Mill, where we stayed, was lovely but it is a very small piece of calm and beauty surrounded as it is by sodium lamps and the constant hum of the M1.

The postcard above is from the company where we found the bed and breakfast. I can’t really say that just off the M1 is really ‘off the beaten track.’

Still, the building was lovely, and the room was cute. There was a river out of the window and cows were mooing.

We went to the local pub for dinner, but it was full. Fortunately, there was another close by. The Five Bells in Bugbrooke. They were more than happy to dish out copious amounts of food.

I had two pints of Webster’s – a real Yorkshire bitter, apparently. Not bad.

We managed to return to our room in time to see South Park.
