I think the world is getting a bit sad when the sentence ‘Americans are so pathetic’ can be classed as hate speech. But that’s what Instagram reckons. If anything, the fact that Instagram thinks being called pathetic is hate speech is even more pathetic. Perhaps I should have said ‘Americans are so sensitive’, instead. I can’t even remember what I was writing about.

Hate speech is, I guess, a bit hard to define, by whoever (or whatever) is monitoring social media. Obviously, there will be some sort of algorithm that pulls out certain words and phrases and highlights their use. Fortunately, that doesn’t happen on my blog, so I can say what I want.

A bit like Reddit where, if you type pathetic Americans into the search bar, you come up with pages of subreddit posts from how the lack of election debates is pathetic to a piece about how they are so religiously suggestive that, during a 1989 presidential visit to Hel in Poland, the press used the name of the next town instead.

Anyway, the above proves that I didn’t do a lot today. I was home alone as Mirinda was out with Nicoline and Lena, watching a bunch of people prance about on a stage full of artificial hay. We had thought it humorously ironic that she was seeing a dance version of Midsummer Night’s Dream the day after I was seeing the original play in Swedish. Except that wasn’t the case.

It turns out that the ballet was about Midsommar rather than Shakespeare. In fact, there was nothing bardic about it at all. And the dream in the title, according to Mirinda, was a nightmare. Actually, she also said I’d have enjoyed the nightmare bit. Which sounds a bit of a nightmare in itself.

According to Nicoline, it also needed a bit of red pen, a sentiment I wholeheartedly endorse.

The biggest thing that happened today, though, was that Lisa left first thing this morning for Edinburgh.

Yes, it was a whirlwind of a visit. Very enjoyable and way too short. Though, I stand by my earlier assertions that there was a lot of talking between the two of them. About almost everything. I say ‘almost’ because one of the final things Mirinda said was how there were still subjects they hadn’t broached. I have no idea what they could possibly be.

Being Ascension Day, the trains were all a bit unreliable and infrequent so Lisa opted for a more reliable form of transport instead. Our last sight of her was as the big yellow taxi drove off to Arlanda with her in the back seat.

And, before I end this post, and because I didn’t take any photos today, I’d just like to leave this informative screen dump here.

So, shove that in your pathetic algorithm, Instagram.
