Joy in a gradually deteriorating day

Freya hates the giant cat that lives somewhere in our road. Whenever she sees this giant fluffy monster strolling along the road or, worse still, across our garden, she goes into full angry mode. She sees this as an affront, akin to an invasion, and barks accordingly. In fact, she has quite a deep bark reserved for these moments. And she remains angry long after the cat has gone.

Steadfast and true, she is ready to protect us from such dangerous invaders.

There she is atop Mirinda’s lap, waiting for the cat to appear outside the windows. I guess she was concerned in case it was the cat that had taken Mirinda away and was coming back to repeat the abduction.

Yes, Mirinda returned today. Sadly, her cold has also returned. The one that she received from Amanda back in Lymington. The one that Amanda got from Liz who is still hunting down the snotty child that started the whole thing.

She wasn’t so bad when she arrived mid-afternoon, generously chauffeured home by Nicoline, but soon deteriorated as the day wore on and drifted into night. It got to the point where we were forced to cancel her birthday party, planned for tomorrow, and move it ahead a couple of weeks.

A wise move, I’m sure. And, if I really think about it, there were probably a few cancellations of things tonight, given she was on a plane, where there were probably a few susceptible passengers.

Prior to realising the wisdom of cancelling her birthday party, Mirinda enjoyed sitting in the glass room, enjoying the heat of the afternoon over a cup of tea. She enjoyed it while sitting on her birthday present from Nicoline.

She found it at the dump for 50kr and, apart from a few scratches, there’s nothing wrong with it. Nicoline remembered Mirinda saying she was looking for a replacement for the broken one, spotted this beauty and nabbed it. According to Mirinda, it is very comfortable.

So, a bit of joy in an otherwise, gradually deteriorating day.
