Glimpsing the sun

Today I popped into the System. It was the first time I’ve visited my favourite shop since my toe wound made walking difficult. It was necessary today in order to buy a small bottle of port for the Christmas cranberry sauce. Obviously, I supplemented the port with some rum and beer. It seemed churlish not to.

While I was rummaging around the booze, Mirinda and Denise took the girls for a walk around the camping ground on the island or, as I call it, the world beyond the world’s end. The sun, long since abandoned as an actual thing, made a brief appearance as they wandered around the seafront.

I sat and waited for them, reading outside the library, given the weather was being kind and the temperature almost at double (positive) figures.

While I was reading, I spotted and greeted Leana, who was in Trosa to buy her son some socks. “Boring socks,” She called them. Though, she was off to Mekka first in order to quieten her rumbling tummy. Apparently, her son likes getting boring socks for Christmas. I agreed, saying that we all need socks.

Shortly afterwards, Mirinda texted to say they were on their way back, so I grabbed my liquid enhanced trolley and walked down to the car park opposite Bomans. In fact, we both turned up at the same time. As did Jim the Poodle Man. While Mirinda thought this was surprising, given he lives on the same road as the car park it was maybe not so much surprising as inevitable.

We stopped and chatted for a bit, mainly about the health of various of his family members.

Being a Monday, there is precious little open in Trosa so we headed to Bomens for a drink, where Denise admired the ladies toilet as well as the various design choices in the lounge and bar.

While the woman at the reception desk, who seemed to be the only other person in the building, talked on the phone and failed to light the fire, we sat and chatted while Emma dried her legs on my lap. It was, as usual, lovely. Okay, maybe not the bit about Emma and her wet legs. In fact, when I stood up, it did look like I’d had a bit of an accident.
