Snow shoveller

This morning, shortly after the girls had woken me up in order for them to go outside to the loo, I opened the front (back) door to find the steps completely covered with snow. Poor Emma couldn’t work out where the steps started, or ended. I stepped outside and shifted some so she could at least go outside. Freya followed, almost vanishing as she walked through the garden.

So, yes, it snowed a lot overnight. Max was almost completely covered and the driveway was non-existent. After our experience of the ice at Ekerö, I decided it would be a good idea to shovel the snow off the gravel. It took me about an hour but I managed. As Mirinda said in a text, it was a good work out.

Emma supervised while Freya stayed inside the glassroom.

Then we went for another snow filled walk around the woods.

There was a lot of snow on the ground and in the trees. It all looked, as Denise said, like a fairy tale. I expected to see reindeer but was disappointed. And, of course, it snowed as we walked around. Little snow balls clung to the girls’ legs forcing Emma to stop every now and then to bite some off. When we reached home, I discovered I had small snowballs in my beard as well.

The other thing I discovered was that my work from earlier had been rendered pointless by the extra dump of snow while we’d been away. It looks like I’ll be snow shovelling again tomorrow.

The walk was my second of the day given I’d gone to the ICA first thing. It was one of my first walks through the woods in the dark, the snow making it very magical. And cold. It was very cold. Still, it looked good.

Oh, and Henry Kissinger died today, aged 100.
