Such a beautiful day

There was quite a bit of fevered activity in the house today. Most of it came late on. Earlier, Mirinda had a hairdresser appointment and then took a long walk at Stendorren (avoiding Sharon Rock) while the sun was still around. Then the fevered activity took over.

Tomorrow, Mirinda leaves for the UK for two weeks. She will be attending a conference and visiting friends. She will be escaping the snow, the puppies and my slow healing extra toe. And that’s what the activity was about – packing and organising.

For my part, I booked her flights and accommodation and worked out how to make her Macbook download movies. That doesn’t sound onerous, and it shouldn’t be but, sadly, it was particularly annoying. Still, I managed to make it work before going to bed.

And the day was beautiful.

I had to go into Trosa Centrum for some essential white wine, so I accompanied Mirinda, then waited the required age for her hair to be done. It was cold but worth it, given I managed to finish the latest Sharpe novel (number 13, Sharpe’s Company) which kept me decidedly warm.

(Incidentally, although chronologically 13th, it was the third Sharpe novel written by Bernard Cornwall. I thought it was odd how Sergeant Obadiah Hakeswill returns after so long an absence. It makes perfect sense though if you consider when it was written.)

The snow returned late in the day as we headed for the ICA to get in some supplies for me and lamp shades for Mirinda. We then hunkered down, candles on the window sill, eating Spanish chicken, watching British TV and enjoying Fredagsmys like a couple of Swedish natives.
