This afternoon, we were walking to the Skärborgarnas Hus, on our way to a concert. I’d been looking forward to it ever since seeing the Ukrainian themed performance back in September, and following my disappointment at the next one being cancelled because of sickness. Not mine, I hasten to add.
Today we were going to listen to flautist, Åsa Karlberg and guitarist Mårten Falk. Combined, they are duo Caminar.
We were four – Ina, Fi, Lauren and me. Ina was on a short, flying visit. She spent last night at a good friend’s place and, tomorrow night, she’ll be staying with her cousin and we were beautifully slotted into the middle. Sadly, we didn’t have time for me to use the present that Ina had brought me from Bavaria. I have promised her, however, that I shall use it to make the perfect stollen as soon as I get some yeast.
Jason turned up at Vagnhärad station later, having travelled by train and replacement bus from Copenhagen. In fact, he timed it perfectly to coincide with our booking at Boman’s.
Fi and I had gone into Trosa in the morning in order to book for dinner and, naturally, we stopped for fika and shopped at the System. As you do. We then headed over to Vagnhärad to pick Ina up from the train. It was the second time of many, given that Fi had already driven Mirinda there for her to head into Stockholm for her Swedish class.
Back at the house, after a lovely chat, Lauren joined us, and we took the dogs around the woods.
When we returned, I opened the glass room door and, as usual, said “Come on, girls!” in order for the dogs to head inside. Ina thought I meant her, Fi and Lauren. Very funny as we all collided in the doorway.
Very soon we were headed across to the hall. And, on the way, the four of us chatted incessantly.
“I’m nothing if not subtle,” I said. “I’m Captain Obvious,” replied Lauren. I can’t remember what prompted this exchange but it provided me with an excellent title for this post.
Obviously, I had no idea how they would view the concert; whether they’d enjoy it or what. As it turned out, they really loved it. All four of us did.
Åsa with her five flutes and Mårten with his two guitars were excellent. They played a great variety of pieces, both modern and not so; sometimes together, sometimes solo. And, this time, there was even an interval during which we had a drink and talked about how brilliant the first half had been.
A bit like the day really though it was more one of four parts rather than just two.
And then, later, the final part as we were joined by Mirinda and Jason, for a fantastic dinner at Boman’s. We were also royally entertained by the waitress who took great care to snap about 3,423 photographs of us all sitting beneath the Last Supper.
What a great day it was today.
Yes, we all loved the music recital! What a beautiful experience! And then a very special dinner all together with Ina too! Making Happy memories !!❤️
