Lukas is an electrician. He spent today at the house and will be returning tomorrow. Since being in the house, we have discovered lots of electrical anomalies and wanted someone to check them out and, if possible, fix them. Lukas is that man. And to say he was shocked at the DIY state of our electrics would be an understated pun.
The list of problems is long.
It reminds me of the dodgy plumbing job at Farnham which, incidentally, continues to plague us. There was a leak above the vestibule last week and a plumber had to, basically, remove everything from the bathroom to fix it. It seems to have been sorted but, given the state of the original, only time will tell.
But, back here, I thought Lukas was going to quote then come back to work on things, but, no, that’s not how it’s done. He started fixing things almost from the get go. And, apart from breakfast and lunch, he didn’t stop.
This, of course, meant we stayed here as well, in case of questions, of which there were quite a few. Well, Mirinda stayed all day. Fi and I took a trip into Trosa because I needed an onion. And Mirinda said I needed shoes with some tread. Unlike my current runners.
Not that we were gone very long. In fact, Fi claimed I cured her of her fear of shoe shopping. Apparently this was a torture she suffered whenever Andrew needed new shoes. He would try on about 237 pairs in 27 different shoe shops, compare fit and price then, eventually, after a few painful days, during which the entire family was dragged all over southern Queensland, buy a pair.
Not so with me. I found a pair, tried them on and bought them. We were in and out in about ten minutes.
And they’ve turned out to be very comfortable! So I was right! Yet again.
